THE BASIC MATRICULATION PROGRAMME

The basic matriculation programme of the school is a SPECIAL Programme for students with O-Level entry requirements into the Universities. The programme last for Eight (8) months divided into two semesters. During this period, students are exposed to intensive lectures from Mondays to Thursdays every week and a weekly C.A. test/practical work on Fridays.

Entry Requirement into Basic Matriculation Programme
Candidates aspiring to be admitted into the Basic Matriculation programme must:

1. Obtained a minimum of five (5) O/L credits from General Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Agric. Science (for basic and applied Sciences).
2. Obtained a minimum of five (5) O/L credits from General Mathematics, English Language, Literature in English, IRS, Economics/Commerce, Geography, Hausa, Arabic Lang. and Government/History (for Arts and Social Sciences).

Catchment Area
The programme is specifically designed for interested candidates from the 23 Local Government Areas of the State (Constituting 70%), 25% from the Catchment States and 5% from other States.

Entry Requirements into the Sokoto State University or other Universities
All students who completed the Basic Matriculation programme of the school and satisfy 1 or 2 or both below are offered admission into the State University or 2 below only in respect of other Universities.

1. Admission into Sokoto State University, Sokoto is automatic provided a student successfully completes the Basic Matriculation Programme (with a minimum of 140 points) and sat for the UTME.
2. Choose the University as first or second choice (institution) while completing his/her UTME form and has also obtained the required UTME scores (determined by the JAMB) and remedied the necessary O-Level deficiencies.
